Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely be out of action for 4-5 weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
The Ukrainian international has featured regularly for the Premier League champions this season and his absence is the latest blow to City’s depleted defensive options, the 22-year-old having undergone an operation in Barcelona to fix the problem.
City boss Pep Guardiola revealed his expectation is that Zinchenko will miss over a month of acton, whilst he also provided an update on the fitness of midfielder Rodri after the 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the midweek Champions League win over Atlanta at the Etihad.
“Zinchenko had contact with the knee and felt something in the bone,” Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference.
”He has to stop for four or five weeks. He had (surgery) to clean the knee.”
On Rodri, Guardiola added that the club’s record-signing is likely to miss the next few weeks with his return not anticipated until after November’s international break.
