Pep Guardiola says ‘extraordinary’ Raheem Sterling can still get better after the Manchester City star hit a hat-trick in the club’s 5-1 Champions League win over Atlanta at the Etihad.
The England international has begun the new season in scintillating form, his treble against the Serie A side taking his tally to 12 goals in just 13 appearances for Man City so far this season.
Sterling scored three times in the space of just 11 second half minutes as City maintained their 100% start to the Champions League group stage with an emphatic win over the Italian visitors.
The 24-year-old’s performance was the latest impressive showing from a player who is now regarded as amongst the finest attacking talents in Europe, though Guardiola has warned that there is still more to come.
“How much better he can become depends on him,” Guardiola said.
“That desire to get better and I think he has that desire to get better.
“I say all credit is for him, all the credit is for him. He’s a guy whose physicality is incredible.
“The day after a game, he could play another game. He can play both sides, he’s fast, defensively he helps us a lot, he’s an extraordinary player.”
