Man City interested in signing Leicester’s impressive defensive duo

Manchester City are apparently interested in Leicester defensive duo Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu.

The reigning champions have the created the most chances (199) and scored the most goals (35) in the entire Premier League, though they currently sit nine points off league leaders Liverpool down in fourth place.

With Man City failing to sign a replacement for Vincent Kompany in the summer, Pep Guardiola’s defence was further weakened by the injury to key central defender Aymeric Laporte back in August, just four games into the new season.

John Stones has also spent time on the treatment table this season, with midfielders Fernandinho and Rodri having filled in at times in the back four, City having lost three of their opening 12 games, just one less than they lost in the entirety of last season.

According to Sky Sports, Man City are considering a January move for Leicester‘s defensive duo of Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu, the pair having impressed for Brendan Rodgers side who currently sit in second.

The Foxes currently have the best defensive record in the entire division having conceded just eight times this season, Evans and Soyuncu playing every minute of the league campaign so far.

Pep Guardiola has previously shown an interest in signing former Manchester United defender Evans from West Brom in 2017, while Soyuncu has seamlessly slotted into Leicester’s defence following the £80 million departure of Harry Maguire in the summer, a player Guardiola was also interested in bringing to the Etihad.
