Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is expecting a tough game against Arsenal on Thursday, despite dispatching the Gunners with ease in Sunday’s League Cup final.
The Premier League leaders thrashed what Gary Neville described as a ‘spineless’ Arsenal side in the weekends final at Wembley, but have the chance to take revenge on a Thursday when the pair meet in their rearranged Premier League game.
Despite the ease of their victory, Manchester City midfielder Gundogan is not getting complacent.
“We know Arsenal are able to play, they have a strong team,” Gundogan said
“It is going to be challenging and we need to be ready.
“It won’t be easy. It is just maybe a bit weird to play them twice in four days.”
Despite lifting the first peiice of Silverware on Sunday, Thursday’s game means that the Cityzens have no time to enjoy their triumph, and must refocus as they continue to fight on two fronts.
City’s busy schedule then continues with a home game against Chelsea on Sunday and the second leg of their Champions League tie against Basel the following week.
The German international added: “There are still plenty of huge games to play and the next one is on Thursday against the same opponent. It doesn’t stop.
“There is not really a break to relax or enjoy. Now we try to prepare for the game on Thursday and try to get another win.”
