Man City set asking price for unsettled Sterling with Barcelona interested

Manchester City have set an asking price of €80m for Raheem Sterling with Barcelona understood to be interested in signing the unsettled winger.

Sterling has struggled for regular minutes at the Premier League champions in recent months and has scored just two goals in his past 16 league appearances for City, with the 26-year-old having last week discussed the possibility of leaving the Etihad.

The England international spoke on the prospect of playing abroad and Barcelona are believed to retain an interest in signing Sterling, though any deal will prove ‘complex’ given the Catalan’s financial situation and City’s €80m valuation of the player.

Marca are reporting that City are willing to sell Sterling should a suitable offer arrive, though Barcelona have alternative targets and have also monitored RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo.

Sterling currently has less than two years remaining on his current contract, but City will offer no discount on the winger despite the prospect of him leaving on a free transfer in 2023.

Sterling signed for City from Liverpool in 2015 and has since scored 115 goals in 303 appearances across all competitions, winning three Premier League titles amongst his eight major honours.
