Leicester defender Harry Maguire has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester City.
The Premier League champions are looking for defensive additions this summer, having confirmed club captain Vincent Kompany will leave the club to join Anderlecht after 11 years at the Etihad.
England international Maguire has been a transfer target for Manchester United, though according to the Daily Mail local rivals City are now believed to have joined the race to sign the 26-year-old in the summer window.
United were interested in signing the centre-back last summer, however the club refused to match Leicester’s asking price and Maguire was rewarded with a new deal at the King Power stadium.
Leicester are believed to value the centre-back at around £75m, a fee that would match the world-record fee for a defender that Liverpool paid for Virgil Van Dijk in 2018.
City are now prepared to hijack United’s move for Maguire, as a replacement for the outgoing Kompany, with the former Hull City defender to provide competition for Aymeric Laporte and international teammate John Stones at the Etihad.
It was a shortened pod this week, but still a solid listen. 🎧👌
