Lloris: Liverpool and Spurs projects aren’t comparable

Hugo Lloris says Tottenham cannot be compared to Liverpool after losing the Champions League final 2-0 to Jurgen Klopp’s side this weekend.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi secured Liverpool‘s sixth European Cup in Madrid on Saturday, as the Merseyside club bounced back from defeat to Real Madrid in last year’s final.

Spurs impressively reached the final for the first time in the club’s history this season, despite having not made a signing in 18 months, with Lloris saying the ‘projects’ of both sides are difficult to compare.

“It is difficult to compare both projects,” Lloris said. “There is one club who sets out to win every competition in which they play, and that is not the case with Tottenham.

“We work and try to stick with the philosophy of the board, manager and the club.

“We look to improve every season and we have shown improvements year after year, so we now cannot throw everything in the bin after a Champions League final defeat.

“It’s been a big step for the club and the only thing we can look to do is come back stronger next season.”
