Liverpool team news

The main talking point for Liverpool is the arrival of record signing Alexander Isak. All eyes will be on the team sheet to see if the £125m striker will feature.

However, he is expected to begin on the bench as he builds match fitness. Aside from Isak, manager Arne Slot has a near full-strength squad, though Curtis Jones is currently unavailable. Jeremie Frimpong has returned to training but may not be risked.

The superb form of the current attacking trio makes Isak’s likely place on the bench easier. Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo have both started the season strongly, making them very difficult to drop.

They will be supported by Florian Wirtz’s creative force. The German international’s intelligent off-ball running has been a standout feature of Liverpool’s impressive start to the campaign.
