Liverpool XI vs Brentford – Predicted lineup and team news

Liverpool visit Brentford on Saturday afternoon on nine points from six league games, one behind the unbeaten hosts.

Liverpool visit Brentford on Saturday afternoon on nine points from six league games, one behind the unbeaten hosts.

Andoni Iraola’s side lost 3-0 at home to Manchester City on 11 October, then won 6-3 at LASK Linz in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Bradley Barcola scoring a hat-trick. Iraola has never beaten Brentford in seven attempts as a manager (D5 L2), and Liverpool failed to win either league meeting last season, drawing 1-1 at Anfield in May after losing 3-2 at the Gtech.

Liverpool team news

Ryan Gravenberch is suspended for one match after his red card against Manchester City, and Hugo Ekitike (Achilles), Conor Bradley (knee) and Giovanni Leoni (knee) are out. Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring), Alexander Isak (thigh) and Cody Gakpo (ankle) are doubts, and Iraola said the club will have to wait and see on Szoboszlai but would leave the chance open. None of the three is likely to start even if fit. Trey Nyoni, 19, could therefore make his first Premier League start in midfield. Wataru Endo is a more experienced alternative.

Barcola is expected on the left of attack after his hat-trick, with Lewis Koumas, who also scored at LASK Linz, leading the line. Victor Munoz will compete with Rio Ngumoha on the right, and Florian Wirtz is set to continue at number 10 after an improved display and an assist in Austria. Ronald Araujo is more likely than Jeremie Frimpong to start at right-back, joining Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez, with Alisson in goal.

Liverpool predicted lineup

Liverpool possible starting XI: Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Nyoni, Mac Allister; Munoz, Wirtz, Barcola; Koumas
