Arne Slot has confirmed that Liverpool will be without Joe Gomez and Cody Gakpo at Villa Park. Gomez’s hamstring issue is worse than first feared and Slot revealed the defender is set to be on the sidelines for ‘quite some time’. Gakpo missed the weekend win over Wolves, after limping out of the Merseyside Derby last week. He is not yet fit to return.
Elsewhere, Curtis Jones is back from suspension and could add freshness in midfield, while Darwin Nunez is in line for a recall to the starting side. Slot has said he will take a cautious approach with the minutes of fellow forward Diogo Jota.
