Liverpool are interested in a deal to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Takumi Minamino ahead of the January transfer window.
The Premier League leaders have been impressed by the Japanese international’s performances for the Austrian champions so far this season, impressing for Salzburg in their two meetings against Liverpool in this season’s Champions League group stages, scoring at Anfield in October.
The 24-year-old is capable of playing a variety of roles across the forward line, and reports now claim that the Reds are now ready to firm up their interest in a player who’s contract contains a release clause of just £7.25m.
According to Sky Sports, his low-cost clause has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe and has now accelerated Liverpool‘s interest in the player as they bid to beat off competition ahead of the upcoming winter window.
Minamino has starred in an exciting Salzburg team this season alongside the likes of Erling Braut Haaland and Hwang-Hee Chan and has scored nine goals in all competitions, whilst he has also netted 11 times in just 22 appearances for the Japanese national side.
The creative midfielder’s arrival would increase the strength and depth of Liverpool’s attacking options, as the club bid to continue their push for the Premier League title and defend their Champions League crown.
