Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has lavished praise on teammate Sadio Mane and believes the forward has elevated his game to ‘another level’ this season.
The Senegal forward has proven a talismanic figure during Liverpool‘s stunning start to the new season, the 27-year-old netting his eighth league goal of the campaign during Saturday’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
The win maintained the European champion’s eight-point advantage at the top of the Premier League, and Robertson was full of praise for Mane following his latest display at Selhurst Park, believing last season’s joint Golden Boot winner has improved once again this season.
“Sadio has been fantastic,” Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com.
“Even when I came he was amazing, but maybe did not have as much composure as he does now in front of goal. Now every time he is there you don’t think he will miss.
“The chance he had at the start of the second half, we were surprised he did not score, and that is the type of player he is. Then he has popped up with another crucial goal.
“It has been a fantastic year for him and let’s hope he can keep going for a full season instead of a calendar year. He has taken his game to another level.”
Liverpool return to Champions League action this week when they host Napoli at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit top of Group E as they look to defend their title, and victory over the Serie A side will seal their progress to the last-16 as group winners.
