Liverpool have reportedly held initial talks over the potential signing of Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund.
Arne Slot wants to add a centre-back to the club’s ranks after a deadline day move for Marc Guehi collapsed. Liverpool retain interest in the Crystal Palace defender, who is out of contract in the summer, but are exploring alternative options.
In addition to interest in Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano, Liverpool are also weighing up the cost of signing Schlotterbeck from Dortmund.
The German has built a reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s best progressive defenders, ranking among the league’s top players for passes into the final third (5th), progressive passes (6th) and progressive carrying distance (7th).
Liverpool journalist DaveOCKOP has claimed initial talks have taken place. Though any potential deal is still far from being agreed, the Reds have spoken with an agency working with the player to discuss terms.
