Liverpool full-back Jeremie Frimpong has been omitted from the Netherlands squad for this summer’s World Cup.
Frimpong endured a difficult debut season at Liverpool after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of around £29.5m last summer.
The 25-year-old made only 12 starts in the Premier League, failing to score and producing just a single assist. Persistent injuries impacted the Dutchman’s ability to make an impression and he has missed out on a World Cup place as a result.
Netherlands head coach has named his squad for the tournament, which includes Denzel Dumfries and Jurrien Timber as right-back options,
Frimpong’s club teammates, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo, have all been selected.
