A well respected lawyer who has previously worked on Liverpool’s transfers says that Liverpool are negotiating with Southampton for Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Virgil van Dijk seems like a never ending saga but last night Jürgen Klopp hinted that Liverpool may still be in for the Dutchman.

Following Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Tranmere in a pre-season friendly Klopp spoke to the media. In a somewhat humorous interview Klopp was asked about the potential signing of van Dijk, to which he responded:

“Am I allowed to talk about this? I’m not! Pretty much everything I could say would be a mistake”

South African lawyer, Daniel Vanderkamp, has previously helped Liverpool with transfers. Most notably was Christian Benteke’s move to Liverpool two years ago.

On VanderKamp’s personal twitter account he has spoken about information he has been given regarding the van Dijk transfer.

Liverpool’s apology to Southampton earlier this summer regarding their pursuit of van Dijk does not seem to have derailed their plans.

Vanderkamp states that the transfer deal is progressing well despite numerous reports that Liverpool would struggle to land the Dutchman.

It was also believed that because of Liverpool’s apology to Southampton van Dijk would have to engineer the move by handing in a transfer request. However Vanderkamp does not believe he will need to do that.

Only time will tell whether Liverpool can get the van Dijk deal done but the signs suggest that they are edging closer to a sensational transfer.
