Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has revealed why he opted to remain at the club, despite interest from Barcelona.
The Swedish international has emerged as one of the club’s most consistent performers in recent seasons, with Spanish giants Barcelona having been strongly linked with a move to take the 25-year-old to La Liga.
Despite the speculation Lindelof insists he remains happy at the club, and says he never thought about leaving as he looks to fulfil his ambitions of bringing “big titles” back to Old Trafford.
“There was a lot of writing about it. But for me I have a contract with United and I am loyal to the club. I like it very much,” Lindelof told Sport Expressen.
“For me it was never a question either, I wanted to stay at United and believe very much in what we have going on and that is also why I signed a new contract.
“I love to represent United and to wear that sweater every day. My goal when I came here was to win titles and do well for all supporters. But I haven’t won a title yet, so it’s my big goal to take home big titles with United.”
