Everton are apparently confident that Leighton Baines will remain at the club beyond this summer.
The long-serving left-back is out of contract in two weeks, and has yet to commit his future to the club having lost his place as Everton‘s first choice left-back.
Last week, the club confirmed that Baines had been offered a one-year deal to stay at Goodison Park, and the Liverpool Echo reports that the Blues are confident he will extend his stay at Goodison Park.
The 34-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Everton in recent years, with Lucas Digne’s arrival from Barcelona last summer consigning Baines’ role to that of a bit-part player, with the Kirkby-born defender being restricted to just seven Premier League appearances last season.
The news is likely to mean Everton youngster Antonee Robinson is likely to depart the club on a season-long loan, after recently admitting that he is eyeing first-team opportunities.
The Toffees recently decided against renewing the contract of veteran defender Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams, who will become free agents on July 1st.
