Leicester slap £40m price tag on in-demand star amid Premier League interest

Leicester City have slapped a £40m price tag on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall amid interest in the midfielder from Premier League clubs.

Dewsbury-Hall has been a driving force in Leicester’s run to the top of the Championship table, as the Foxes look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and provided nine assists in the second tier this season, form which has led to transfer interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Brighton and Brentford have been heavily linked with Dewsbury-Hall, while Arsenal and Fulham have also been named as admirers of the midfielder, who was left out of the Leicester squad for the weekend win over Birmingham City in the FA Cup fourth round.

However, Leicester have no plans to sell Dewsbury-Hall with manager Enzo Maresca insisting his omission was to hand the player a rest ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Swansea.

“The reason why he was not in the squad was because we gave him, Harry Winks, and Jannik a rest for Tuesday’s game.

“This is a question for the club, not for me,” he continued on Dewsbury-Hall’s future.

“We have talked about the transfer window for sure, but it’s not a question for me. At the end, we need some balance. We’ll see. Anyway, I’m not saying anything because Kiernan is our player. In the moment that something happens, I will tell my thoughts about it.”

Dewsbury-Hall’s sale could ease Leicester’s concerns regarding Profit and Sustainability Rules, though the Foxes are understood to have increased their initial asking price to £40m with just days remaining of the January transfer window.

The deadline for English clubs to make signings is 11pm on Thursday 1 February, 2024
