Leeds United host Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon in the first Roses derby of the season, on nine points from six league games.
Daniel Farke’s side lost 2-1 at Arsenal last Saturday, their first league defeat of the season, after taking the lead through James Justin shortly after half-time. At home this season they beat Newcastle United 4-1 and drew 1-1 with Brentford and 0-0 with Crystal Palace. They are unbeaten in eight competitive matches at Elland Road, winning five and keeping five clean sheets. United have not won in five games in all competitions, losing three and drawing two, and have yet to win away this season. Leeds won the last meeting 2-1 at Old Trafford in April, and the sides drew 1-1 at Elland Road in January.
Leeds United team news
Joe Rodon (hamstring) is a few weeks from a return and Mateo Joseph (ACL) continues his rehabilitation. Dan James (back) resumed training on Thursday, and Farke said there is a chance he is involved, though the winger is more likely to be an option off the bench. Leeds otherwise have a largely fit squad.
Rodon’s absence points to a back three of James Justin, Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic, with James Trafford in goal. Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson are expected to provide width as wing-backs, with Ao Tanaka partnering Ethan Ampadu in midfield. Noah Okafor and Anton Stach are likely to support Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who leads the line.
Leeds United predicted lineup
Leeds United possible starting XI: Trafford; Muharemovic, Elvedi, Justin; Bogle, Ampadu, Tanaka, Gudmundsson; Stach, Okafor; Calvert-Lewin
