Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that N’Golo Kante will miss tonights Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Frenchman was forced to withdraw from Chelsea‘s 3-0 win over Watford after picking up a hamstring in just the 10th minute.
Sarri took full responsibility for the midfield dynamo’s injury, saying he should have managed his game time more effectively having played him for the full 90 mins over in Germany last week.
However, speaking ahead of tonight’s second leg, Sarri confirmed that while he won’t be able to feature tonight, or in the Blues final Premier League game of the season on Sunday, the problem isn’t too serious and he should be fit for the Europa League final in Baku, if indeed they make it there.
“He had a problem with his hamstring,” reported Sarri at his pre-match press conference.
“It was not very serious but he needs to rest for a couple of weeks. We can try to recover him for the final if we make it.”
Chelsea go into tonight’s game with the scores level 1-1 on aggregate, meaning that they will progress to the final later this month if they manage to keep a clean sheet, or indeed win by any scoreline.
