Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has praised his sides more experienced pros for setting the standards for the Blues talented youngster to follow.
Blues legend Lampard was appointed Chelsea manager in the summer and with the club currently serving a FIFA imposed transfer ban, he was handed the remit of finally integrating some of the Stamford Bridge outfits best young talent into the first team.
Lampard has given opportunities to the likes of academy graduates Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Fikayo Tomori, with all three players receiving plaudits for their impressive performance.
Chelsea secured their first Premier League home win under Lampard on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Brighton, but the Blues boss was quick to point out that the performances of his more experienced team members such as Jorginho and Willian is crucial in allowing the highly-rated youngsters to shine.
“Everyone has been drawn to talking about the young players but they will always need experienced players around them,” Lampard told his post-match press conference.
“You’re talking about Jorginho with the coolness of head to score the penalty, and Willian who not only created chances for himself and got his goal but showed fantastic work ethic as well.
“Those are the standards. Some of the experienced players can set those standards and the young players must follow.”
