Frank Lampard has been singing the praises of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard, saying that on current form, he is better than Barcelona maestro, Lionel Messi.
Hazard has been in some of the best form of his career at the start of this current campaign, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in the Premier League, helping Chelsea to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
Having taken the scalp of Manchester United in the third round, Blues legend Frank Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge this evening as his Derby County side take on his former employers in the Carabao Cup.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the 40-year-old was asked if Hazard was better than Lionel Messi:
“On current form, I think he is,” replied Lampard.
“Of course, that can change but I love watching him and he’s in his prime.
“He is an absolutely outstanding player in world football.
“Let’s hope he wants a rest.”
Fortunately for Derby and their manager, the mercurial Belgian is one player they won’t have to worry about tonight, with Gianfranco Zola confirming yesterday that he is still carrying a back injury.
