Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that contract talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi have progressed in recent weeks.
The talented teenager has entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, with the club desperate to secure his long-term future following his impressive breakthrough season.
The 18-year-old was subject to interest from German giants Bayern Munich in January, with the Bundesliga side having seen several bids for the winger rejected in the winter window.
Bayern are believed to have maintained their interest in the England international, who is currently recovering from a serious Achilles injury, although Chelsea are increasingly confident Hudson-Odoi will commit his future to the club.
Sky Sports are reporting that a deal worth £180,000-a-week is close to being agreed, with Blues boss Lampard confirming talks over a new deal have progressed.
“Talks moved on very well in the last week or two but it’s not done yet,” Lampard said after Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Reading.
“The one thing that’s clear to me is I want to keep him here. He’s a player we cherish.”
