Vincent Kompany says he was ‘annoyed’ after being told ‘don’t shoot’ by teammates before his wonder goal against Leicester.
Manchester City took a huge stride to retaining their Premier League title with a 1-0 win at the Etihad, with captain Kompany scoring a stunning strike from distance to move City back to the top.
The win means City will be crowned champions if they win at Brighton on the final day, and veteran defender Kompany says he was ‘annoyed’ by shouts from teammates to not shoot before his match winning intervention.
”Today, there was a little bit of frustration because everyone was saying, ‘Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!’ and I could really hear it and it annoyed me,” Kompany told the press after the game.
”So I said, ‘Hold on a second – I’ve not come this far in my career for young players to tell me when I can take a shot or not’ and I just took it.”
