The biggest threat to Manchester City’s hopes of retaining the title are Pep Guardiola’s side themselves, that’s the opinion of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp’s side currently lead the Premier League title race, one point clear of the defending champions, but the German insists City are their own biggest threat.
Speaking to the press ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Wolves on Friday night, Klopp said: “Only City can stop City. We just have to play our own game.”
The title favourites meet at The Etihad in the new year in a clash many are predicting will shape the outcome of the season’s title race, however Klopp says his side are focused solely on their next game.
“Manchester City is January 3.’’ Klopp added.
“There is nothing to think about yet. I am sure Pep (Guardiola) isn’t thinking about us for one second in this moment.”
Liverpool head to Molineux looking for their seventh consecutive league win. Klopp confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold will remain on the sidelines with a foot injury, although James Milner should be fit to return after missing last weekend’s win over Manchester United.
