Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists he is focused on the ‘quality’ of Manchester United, despite their troubled start to the season.
English football’s most successful clubs meet at Anfield this weekend, and despite five places and a 16 point gap currently separating United from Klopp’s league leaders, the German says is wary of the threat posed by Jose Mourinho’s side.
United have had the better of the fixture in recent seasons, with Liverpool winless in the last eight league meetings between the sides.
It is a record which is not lost on Klopp, who is preparing for difficult afternoon on Sunday.
“I’ve never been interested in the points of Manchester United,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
“I’ve been aware of the criticism but when we analyse and switch off the sound there is a lot of quality, technique, strength.
“De Gea in the goal. Rashford and Lukaku, Lingard too is unbelievable.
“We don’t judge the points they have, just the quality.”
