Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Philippe Coutinho and Mohammed Salah are out of tonight’s Merseyside Derby in what will be a huge blow to Liverpool, and a huge boost to Everton.
The duo missed out of LIverpool’s last fixture against Burnley and were doubtful for this FA Cup third round tie, but speaking in his pre match press conference, Klopp admitted that they will not be involved.
Klopp was unsurprisingly asked about the future of Coutinho, but he said that there “was nothing to say” about the situation. The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona after being denied a move in the summer, when Jurgen Klopp publicly stated that he wasn’t for sale. Maybe his silence in this window is an indication that a deal is on?
Klopp did however say that £75m defender Virgil van Dijk could make his debut for the club, although hinted that he may not be quite ready to be thrown into a new defensive unit, saying it was about ‘how many good games he can play’ rather than ‘how many’.
The German did say that his lineup will show how much respect that he and Liverpool FC have for the FA Cup after he has been accused of disrespecting the cup competitions with some of his team selections in recent years.
