Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Sadio Mane will return to Liverpool after the club’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City.

The 27-year-old was part of the Senegal side which reached the final of the African Cup of Nations this summer, with the forward now being given leave following the tournament’s conclusion on Friday.

Klopp has revealed that Mane will now be given just two weeks off before joining up with the rest of the squad on August 5, meaning he will miss the Community Shield clash with Premier League champions City at Wembley on August 4.

Mane, who scored 26 goals for the club last season, will then have four days to prepare and will be in contention for Liverpool‘s opening league fixture against Norwich at Anfield on August 9, before facing Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 14.

“He is in good shape,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Obviously they had a celebration in Senegal and I’m happy about that because it showed that they respect the competition and saw the second place as a success, which is nice.

“He is now on holiday, not the longest one – he will be back on August 5, after the Manchester City game. That means he had two weeks. There is four or five days to prepare for Norwich, 10 days for Chelsea.”
