Martin Keown has slammed Arsenal over the club’s ’embarrassing’ away record.
Arsenal were beaten 3-0 at Leicester on Sunday, the club’s third Premier League defeat in succession, with Unai Emery’s side now facing a difficult task to secure a top four finish.
The result was the latest in a string of poor performances away from the Emirates, the loss at the Leicester their eighth away defeat of the campaign.
Former Arsenal defender Keown, who won three league titles with the club, says the club’s away form is ’embarrassing’ and believes success is some way off for Emery’s side.
“It no longer matters who Arsenal play away from home – when the Gunners leave the Emirates, their opponents view them as little more than cannon fodder,” Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.
“This latest surrender at Leicester was Arsenal’s eighth defeat on the road this season. Of their 37 away trips over the past two campaigns they have lost 19, drawn eight and have won just 10.
“That record is embarrassing. At the very least, teams know that if they can dig in against Arsenal and stay in the game for long enough, at some point they will collapse.
“When you go down to ten men, you have to adopt a siege mentality. You might not win the game but you certainly are not going to lose. Arsenal used to have that reputation.
