Kane ‘delighted’ as he bags 200th Spurs goal in Europa League win over Ludogorets

Harry Kane expressed his joy after netting his 200th Tottenham goal in the 3-1 win over Ludogorets in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Jose Mourinho named Kane in a strong starting lineup in Bulgaria as Spurs looked to bounce back from their embarrassing defeat against Antwerp last week.

Any chances of a repeat performance, however, were quickly put to bed, as England captain Kane nodded home from a corner after just 13 minutes to reach a remarkable personal landmark at the club. Kane was soon involved again on 32 minutes, the 27-year-old latching on to a Gareth Bale through ball before teeing up Lucas Moura for an easy tap in at the back post.

For all the visitors dominance it remained at 2-0 and Mourinho’s men were punished for their wastefulness as the home side pulled a goal back just after half-time, striker Claudiu Keseru latching on to a deflected strike to steer home past a helpless Joe Hart.

With Mourinho looking to kill the tie the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager turned to his bench, with the in-form Heung-Min Son entering the fray. That substitution paid instant dividends as the Korean international teed up Giovani Lo Celso with his first touch and the Argentine duly slotted home to make it a comfortable last half an hour for the Premier League side.

That win puts Spurs in relatively good shape in Group J after three games, although the big topic of the night was of course Kane’s 200th goal for the club, a feat which the forward was keen to build upon in the years to come.

“I’m delighted with that, of course, and I probably could have scored a couple more in that 45 minutes,” Kane told BT Sport.

“It’s a great milestone to reach and hopefully there are a few more to come.

“Time goes so quick it feels like yesterday I scored my first for Spurs. It’s a great achievement but let’s keep them coming.

“Records aren’t on my mind, you guys will let me know when I pass the next one.

“These things are hard to take in while you are still playing. Once you’re finished you take it all in.”

Tottenham are away to West Bromwich Albion next in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
