Kalidou Koulibaly

Journalist claims Koulibaly transfer to Manchester United is ‘all done’

Kalidou Koulibaly is apparently set for a move to Manchester United, with reports in Italy claiming that a move to Old Trafford for the Napoli defender is ‘all done’.

The Senegal international has developed a reputation as one of the finest defenders in world football during a five-and-a-half-year spell in Naples, the powerful centre-back being named in Serie A’s Team of the Year in each of the past four seasons and named as the division’s best defender last term.

The 28-year-old has regularly been linked with a move to one of Europe’s elite, and reports in Italy are once again suggesting that Koulibaly could soon be on his way to the Premier League, with Napoli apparently agreeing a deal worth around £65 million that would see the centre-back join Manchester United in the summer.

Speaking on TV show Il Processo, Italian journalist Fabio Santini made the bold claim: “Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United for a figure of around 70-75m euros. It seems all done.

“Naturally, such a deal will be closed only in June and certainly not in January in the winter transfer window.”

However, a move for Koulibaly would seem to contradict the clubs current transfer strategy, the Old Trafford outfit having moved away from making marquee signings since the Norwegian’s arrival as manager last year, though they are thought to be closing in on the signing of 25-year-old Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
