Juan Mata is backing highly-rated youngster Mason Greenwood to score ‘many goals’ for Manchester United.
The 17-year-old has impressed on the club’s pre-season tour this summer, scoring two goals, including coming off the bench to hit the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in Singapore.
Greenwood’s performances have seen some the club’s fans liken him to former Manchester United favourite Robin van Persie, with the teenager’s curling left-footed effort at the weekend reminiscent of the Dutchman.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that the academy graduate is in contention to start the club’s opening Premier League fixture against Chelsea, with teammate Mata tipping Greenwood to become a success at Old Trafford.
“Mason has a lot of qualities and the most important one is his mentality,” Mata told the BBC.
“He’s hungry to improve and to give his all for the team.
“We are very happy he’s finding his feet in the first team and gaining confidence. I am sure he’ll score many goals for this club.”
