Jesse Lingard on the verge of joining new club after flurry of offers

Former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard is close to signing for a new club after reportedly receiving offers from over 20 clubs.

The 31-year-old has not returned to football since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

Lingard had trained with West Ham United last year, but a contract never materialised. He then came close to joining Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq before the deal broke down over his wage demands.

The attacking midfielder has received offers “from as many as 26 clubs”, including Serie A side Lazio, according to the Mail.

However, Lingard is on the verge of signing a two-year deal with Korean outfit FC Seoul, claims Fabrizio Romano.

The football transfer expert says the free agent is “prepared to travel to South Korea early next week in order to visit club and then complete the move”.

Lingard came through the academy at Man United before going on to make 232 appearances for the first team over eight seasons, winning the Uefa Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

The Cheshire native enjoyed a successful loan spell with West Ham United in 2022, but the move never turned into a permanent transfer.

The player’s contract at Old Trafford ran down the following year, allowing him to sign a lucrative deal with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.

However, his time time at the City Ground was interrupted by injuries and the Reds chose not to keep him on after his one-year deal expired.
