Italy travel away from home as they face France in their next UEFA Nations League fixture on Friday at Stade de France.

Italy are third in the group on three points after an uneven start. Roberto Mancini’s side lost 2-0 to Belgium in their first game, but then responded strongly in their second fixture. The Azzurri produced an impressive display to beat Türkiye 4-1 in Bursa, with neat finishes from Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi and young forward Pio Esposito showing clear attacking promise.

Italy team news

Roberto Mancini is still adjusting his flexible 4-3-3 system after the convincing win over Türkiye, although his squad has taken more blows. Forward Giacomo Raspadori left the training camp after suffering a thigh injury, while Nicolò Zaniolo is out for around a month with a hamstring problem.

On the plus side, Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori is back in defence, joining Alessandro Bastoni and Giorgio Scalvini. At right-back, Brentford’s young player Michael Kayode is strongly favoured to start ahead of experienced Giovanni Di Lorenzo after scoring in Bursa.

In midfield, the Azzurri will rely on the strong trio of Nicolò Barella, Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Fagioli. Up front, the well-regarded Esposito brothers—Francesco Pio and Sebastiano Esposito—are very much in the mix to lead the front three alongside Daniel Maldini.

Italy predicted lineup

Possible Italy starting XI: Donnarumma; Kayode, Scalvini, Bastoni, Calafiori; Barella, Fagioli, Tonali; S. Esposito, P. Esposito, Cambiaghi
