Bayern Munich ready to move for Phil Foden if Man City exit opens up

Bayern Munich would be prepared to make a move for Phil Foden if the Manchester City midfielder becomes available amid the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future.

Bayern Munich would be prepared to make a move for Phil Foden if the Manchester City midfielder becomes available amid the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future.

The England international only signed a new contract with City in July, committing him to the club until 2030. However, the latest financial verdict against City has prompted fresh speculation over whether some of their leading players could eventually consider their options.

TEAMtalk reports that Bayern are particularly interested in Foden’s situation, with manager Vincent Kompany keen on the possibility of reuniting with the player in Germany. Bayern had already monitored Foden before he agreed his new City deal.

Foden’s connection with City makes any departure far from straightforward. The 26-year-old came through the club’s academy and has spent his entire professional career at the Etihad, becoming one of their most decorated players.

City also have no apparent desire to sell him under normal circumstances. The club moved to secure his long-term future this summer after interest from Bayern, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, with Foden ultimately choosing to remain in Manchester.

However, the circumstances could change if City face a severe sporting or financial punishment. The club have maintained their innocence and are pursuing avenues to challenge the verdict, while any eventual sanction has yet to be determined. TEAMtalk’s latest report therefore presents a potential transfer as conditional on City being forced into a major restructuring, rather than suggesting Foden is currently seeking an exit.

Bayern’s interest is also not entirely new. Kompany, who spent more than a decade at City as a player, has previously been linked with a desire to bring Foden to Munich.

For now, Foden remains contracted to City and there is no indication of an imminent transfer. But should the club’s situation force them to consider offers for key players, Bayern appear ready to explore the opportunity.
