Ighalo names three players who immediately made him ‘welcome’ at Manchester United

Odion Ighalo has revealed the three players who immediately made him ‘welcome and comfortable’ at Manchester United following his mid-season arrival at Old Trafford.

The Nigerian international signed for the club on-loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua during the January transfer window and has quickly settled into his new surroundings, scoring four goals in just eight appearances and establishing himself as a popular figure amongst the club’s supporters.

Ighalo has now opened up on his initial months as a Manchester United player and revealed the three players who helped him adapt to life at the club, admitting the Spanish speaking contingent of Juan Mata, David de Gea and Sergio Romero are already ‘like brothers’ after welcoming him into the dressing room.

“I have a lot of guys there who have helped me. The guys in the dressing room are very good guys,” Ighalo said, as per the Mail.

“The first time I stepped my feet in that dressing room – wow. There are two or three players that took me and made me feel welcome and comfortable.

“After two or three days we started living like brothers, like I’ve been there for five years, laughing together and cracking jokes together.

“Especially Juan Mata, De Gea and the other goalkeeper Romero, because they speak Spanish and I speak Spanish.”
