Manchester United host Brighton in the Carabao Cup’s third round tonight with the fixture on free-to-air television in the UK.
Michael Carrick heads into the cup clash in need of a positive result. The Red Devils are aiming to bounce back from a disappointing derby defeat to Manchester City, in which Carrick’s side fell to a meek 1-0 loss, despite having a man advantage for more than an hour.
United have just four points from their first four league games, and will not want an early cup exit to increase the pressure. United exited both domestic cups at the first hurdle last season and improvement will be demanded.
Brighton head into the game in good form. The Seagulls are the leading scorers in the Premier League and thrashed Coventry City 5-0 at the weekend.
