Bernardo Silva has tipped Manchester City teammate Phil Foden to become ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’.
The England U21 international has been tipped for a huge future after establishing himself in Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans, the 19-year-old having made 38 appearances and scored seven goals since being handed his Man City debut in 2017.
The Stockport-born midfielder is likely to enjoy increased involvement this season as he continues his development, with Silva backing the highly-rated youngster to become one of the very best.
“It’s good not to put too much pressure on Phil Foden,” Silva told the BBC.
“He was born in the 2000s, and he is six years younger than me, but he is a huge talent. If he keeps working as hard as he does and his mentality is good, he will be one of the best midfielders in the world in one or two years.
“To go from the second team to the first is a huge step. Sooner or later, he will be one of the best.”
