Hazard reveals how teammate Alonso ‘doesn’t want to listen.’

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has joked that left-back Marcos Alonso ignores his pleas to defend as all the Spaniard is interested in is getting forward to score goals.

Alonso has established himself as arguably the Premier League’s best attacking left-back since moving to Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016.

Since the 27-year-old joined Chelsea no defender in the English top-flight has scored more goals or provided more assists than Alonso.

Last Saturday during his sides 2-0 win over Bournemouth Alonso was at his attacking best, almost giving his side the lead when he hit the post, before laying on an assist for Hazard, although the Belgium international was quick to jovially remind his teammate that defending was still his main priority.

“He’s sometimes in front of me.” Hazard told Chelsea’s official website.

“I want to say to him ‘Marcos, sometimes your first target is to defend, because you play left-back.

“This guy doesn’t want to listen, he just wants to score goals. No problem. He’s doing well. We’re lucky to have him in the team. Fantastic.”
