Eden Hazard says Chelsea have to ‘play in the Champions League every year’ as they moved closer to securing a top four finish with a 1-1 draw at Manchester United.
Marcus Alonso capitalised on a mistake from United goalkeeper David De Gea to earn a point at Old Trafford, after former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata had opened the scoring for the hosts.
The draw leaves Chelsea in fourth, and Maurizio Sarri’s side will secure Champions League football with wins over Watford and Leicester in their final two games.
Hazard, who has been strongly linked with a summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, says Chelsea must play in Europe’s premier competition and is determined to secure qualification in what could be his final appearances for the club.
“Chelsea has to play in the Champions League every year,” Hazard told Sky Sports.
“It’s one of biggest clubs in the world, and for myself also I want to play in the Champions League – and we will.”
