Hazard ‘deserves’ Real Madrid move claims Hoddle

Glenn Hoddle has said that Eden Hazard ‘deserves’ to play for Real Madrid, adding that he believes that he will make the move in the summer.

The Eden Hazard to Real Madrid saga is one that has rumbled on for a number of years now, although his long-protracted move to the Bernabeu looks more likely than ever this summer, especially considering that he has just one year left on his current Chelsea contract.

It is thought that the Blues are set to reluctantly allow their star asset to leave the club after seven highly successful seasons at Stamford Bridge, as opposed to losing him for free next summer, although former Blues midfielder reckons Glenn Hoddle reckons the Belgian ‘deserves’ the chance to play for the 13 time European champions.

“Chelsea will get into the Champions League, whether Hazard will be there with them,” Hoddle told TSN.

“I feel it might be the right time for him personally, not for Chelsea or the Premier League, but for him to go to Real Madrid if that offer is there on the table for him.

“He deserves to play in that team. They’ve got a re-build going on as well… I’ve got a feeling he might move.”

However, if he does leave, Hoddle admits that he has doubts as to whether Chelsea can fill the ‘massive hole’ that his departure would create.

“Chelsea, at the moment, there’s something missing but without Hazard in the team and all the hope [disappears]. You take him away from that team… and you’ve got a massive hole to fill.

“Can you fill it? Probably not. And it’s a real big concern for Chelsea at the moment.

“They’re at a crossroads. With their owner, the new stadium not coming, there’s a lot of players coming to the end of their contracts, the transfer embargo as well.

“All these things are not positive… But I think they’ll end up in fourth spot.”
