The Liverpool legend has called out Frank Lampard over his reaction to the ‘spy gate,’ controversy.
After it was revealed that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa had sent an employee of the club to spy on the training sessions of their upcoming opponents, the Derby County manager claimed the incident “disrupted” their preparation for their game against the Whites and claimed his Argentine counterpart was guilty of bad sportsmanship.
Leeds won the ensuing tie 2-0 before ‘spygate’ inevitably rumbled on in the public discourse, while eleven Championship clubs have reportedly complained to the EFL about it.
Dietmarr Hamann was critical of Lampard’s reaction, calling for the former Chelsea midfielder to “get some perspective.”
“The whole thing’s ludicrous and Frank Lampard – who I have the utmost respect for – has lost the plot with his condemnation of Leeds.” Hamann told the Racing Post.
“I remember when Bremen flew a drone over a Hoffenheim training session. At Melwood, when I was with Liverpool, there used to be any number of kids standing on bins behind a wall watching us train.
“How precious do football clubs think they are? Let’s get some perspective, please.”
