Pep Guardiola has claimed ‘nobody trusts’ his Manchester City side to beat Liverpool when the title rivals meet at The Etihad on Thursday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s unbeaten side currently hold a six-point advantage over Tottenham, with City a further point back, and Guardiola has claimed few expect his team to tighten the visitor’s lead at the top.
“I know today nobody trusts us but it is what it is,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.
“They are in the moment the best team in Europe, in the consistency, the way they control the details in their game. We are going to focus on what we have to do to win the game. Everyone is talking if we lose, but we can win.”
“I cannot figure out what happened in the past is going to happen in the future. Every time we won a lot of games it doesn’t mean it will happen in the future. I have a feeling everyone can beat us but also that we can beat everyone. Last year we beat them 5-0 here. It is Liverpool, with [Manchester] United the best team in all England in history. We can beat them.”
