Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised his side for being so clinical after the Premier League champions thrashed Brighton 4-0 at the Etihad.
Sergio Aguero scored twice in a comprehensive victory for Guardiola’s side, the Argentine’s double sandwiched between goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.
The victory moves City to the top of the division ahead of Liverpool‘s trip to Burnley on Saturday evening, and Guardiola told Match of the Day he was pleased with side’s ruthless approach.
“The difference was the quality of players Manchester City has. They were clinical. The players made the game plan very, very well.
“I love to see opposite teams play that way — that have that courage. They had chances to score as well but we were clinical. Against Tottenham we were not clinical.
Aguero has begun the new season in fine form by scoring six goals in the club’s opening four league fixtures, and Guardiola reserved added praise for an ‘incredible talent’ in City’s all-time record goalscorer.
“I am happy from day one (with Aguero). He has incredible talent and his commitment to the team is fantastic. We have two incredible strikers with him and Gabriel Jesus.”
