Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on the clubs scouting department, insisting that the vast majority of Man City’s success can be attributed to their efforts.
Under Guardiola, Manchester City have developed into one of English football’s greatest ever sides, racking up 198 points over the last two seasons, winning back-to-back Premier League titles as well as an unprecedented domestic treble last season.
Much of that success has been credited to Pep Guardiola’s coaching, the Catalan having improved virtually every player within the Man City ranks.
However, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss believes that the clubs success should be credited to the likes of Txiki Begiristan and the clubs scouting department, who have furnished Guardiola with the enviable riches that he currently has at his disposal.
“The most important department is the scouting department, much more than manager and players,” Guardiola told a press conference ahead of today’s home clash with Southampton.
“When Txiki Begiristain and [others] choose well, 80% is done. When they don’t, you spend a lot of time and energy. That’s my feeling.”
