Pep Guardiola has suggested that Jack Grealish could feature as Manchester City meet Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend
Grealish has not featured since the win at Sheffield United last month due to a hamstring issue, but returned to first-team training with the Citizens on Wednesday.
The England international’s return is a welcome boost for Guardiola, who has seen Bernardo Silva join the club’s lengthy list of absentees after being substituted during the midweek win over Red Star Belgrade.
City will be aiming to become just the second Premier League champions to start a campaign with six straight wins this weekend, after Chelsea in 2005/06, and Guardiola confirmed that Grealish was in contention to feature at the Etihad.
“Jack Grealish is coming back, he’s training well and could be ready,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“Mateo Kovacic is almost [ready], he’s in the last part of the recovery, but now we’ve lost Bernardo Silva for a few days. John Stones and Kevin de Bruyne are still out.”
