Olivier Giroud says Chelsea are wary of ‘dangerous’ Slavia Prague as they prepare to face the Czech side in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.
Chelsea are favourites to reach the last four and hold a slender 1-0 advantage heading into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, after Marcus Alonso’s late header sealed victory a week ago.
Despite the advantage, French forward Giroud admits Chelsea are anticipating a difficult encounter, having been left impressed by their opponents ‘quality’ in the first leg.
‘We were very impressed by their quality and intensity,” Giroud told chelseafc.com.
”You get used to it in the Premier League, but honestly the first half was very tough. They put a lot of pressure on us, good pressing all over the pitch, so it was a very tough.
‘In the second half we had more possession and controlled the game, but they were still dangerous from counters. So we know what kind of team we will face tomorrow. They are not going to give up, and that’s why we are still cautious about this game.’
