Giggs insists Solskjaer has done 'really well' as Man Utd manager

Ryan Giggs has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s impact at Manchester United and believes his former teammate has done ‘really well’ since taking charge at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has enjoyed mixed fortunes during his time as Manchester United manager, though the club have moved into the latter stages of both the FA Cup and Europa League and currently sitting fifth in the Premier League ahead of the division’s restart this week.

Giggs has unsurprisingly kept a close eye on the progress of his former side under the Norwegian and has been impressed by Solskjaer’s tenure thus far, praising the club’s business in the transfer market in recruiting both talented players and ‘good characters’.

“He’s done really well, because it wasn’t easy [going into that job]. He had a tremendous run when he first took over and then a bit of a dip,” Giggs told talkSport.

“I’ve been really pleased and happy with the signings he’s made. They’re not only good players, but they look like they are good characters who want to play for United.

“Maybe that [element] was missing for a couple of years, so to get that back has been great.

“Everyone is interested to see what happens now and if they can get in that top four, considering how well he was doing before the coronavirus [pandemic].”
