Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has refused to criticise his players following their 0-0 draw with Hibernian on Wednesday night.

Alfredo Morelos had the best chances for Rangers on a frustrating evening in the capital, with the Ibrox side’s top scorer unable to add to his season tally of 17.

Rangers surrendered top spot in the Scottish Premiership to rivals Celtic following the draw, but Gerrard was impressed by his side’s performance despite dropping two valuable points.

“I thought it was a great performance. We created enough chances to win two football matches. Unfortunately, we just couldn’t find that execution to get us three points,” Gerrard told the BBC.

“I’m a little bit frustrated but I can’t be too critical because they carried out the game plan incredibly well.”

Rangers now trail Celtic by a single point, having played a game more, and will be looking to bounce back when they travel to St Johnstone on Sunday.
