Steven Gerrard has said that it is not important that his Rangers side have moved to the Scottish Premiership following their 2-1 win over Hearts.

With first placed Celtic playing second-placed Aberdeen in the Scottish League cup final this afternoon, both Rangers and Hearts knew that their clash at Tynecastle this afternoon held extra significance.

However, despite only playing on Thursday in their Europa League clash with Villarreal, it was Rangers who took the spoils, coming from a goal behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos.

Although the former Liverpool midfielder has steered the Glasgow-based club to the summit of the Scottish Premiership, Steven Gerrard doesn’t think that it is too significant right now.

“We’ll have to try. The pressure comes from behind now and they have games in hand,” Gerrard told BT Sport.

“But that’s not important right now for me.

“What’s important is that we have come away from home against a big team and got a result.”
